Competition at the Crossroads: Strategic Planning and Action in Disruptive Markets
Global business competition is intensifying and rapidly and fundamentally transforming, creating the need for more rigorous and far-sighted approaches to measuring and managing competitiveness. The new study by Deloitte and BPM Forum finds that companies are having difficulty anticipating market change and are limited in their capacity to make effective course-correcting action, in large part due to insufficient investment in strategic planning, getting the right information and having the required talent that can look beyond today's sales, profitability, current products, customers and technologies. Only 35% of technology executives say their companies are very effective in managing market altering changes. This is a key finding from a landmark study, "Competition at the Crossroads: Strategic Planning and Action in Disruptive Markets", conducted by the Business Performance Management (BPM) Forum and Deloitte Consulting LLP's Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) group. The study surveyed more than 180 technology industry executives, including qualitative interviews with senior executives involved in strategic planning. Download Full Report »

Alert Enterprise II
What is an Alert Enterprise? What characteristics define an Alert Enterprise in today's' fast-paced ultra-competitive market landscape? What are its optimal functional and non-functional components, systems, processes and best practices?

The Alert Enterprise II continues and expands on the Forum's earlier program, Accelerate How You Differentiate: The Alert Enterprise Audit, which focused on identifying and putting into perspective the challenges companies face in keeping up with the increased velocity and pace of change of today's global environment.

The Alert Enterprise II takes the next logical step and seeks to define the desired attributes of, and establish a comparative baseline model for, the Alert Enterprise. This authority leadership research program will be developed by The BPM Forum, in collaboration with Factiva/Dow Jones, other underwriters and the BPM Forum's channels of access, insight and influence.

More information is forthcoming, so stay Alert! In the meantime, check out Phase 1 of the Alert Enterprise.

Performance & Talent Management Trend Survey 2007

Performance & Talent Management Trend Survey 2007
The global talent war is upon us. As organizations struggle to find, retain, motivate, and develop their people adequately, they face an ever-dynamic talent landscape that is more globally competitive, demanding, and expensive than ever before. The 2007 Performance and Talent Management Trend Survey, fielded by the Business Performance Management (BPM) Forum and SuccessFactors, in cooperation with the Human Capital Institute, audits and assesses talent management trends and trajectories for 2007. The study demonstrates that the battle for talent is intensifying, leading to higher compensation packages, slower time to new hires, strains on quality and customer service, and reduced business flexibility.
